Oh boy, seasonal depression here I come!
I don't exactly like February. With January there's at least some excitement with Christmas Break coming to a close along with my birthday, but once February hits, the drudgery of daily life starts to creep its way back into my routine.Â
I'm happy to say that this February bucked that trend hard.
On January 31st, my little brother Rhett got into SLUH, so to kick off February we went to the Get Your Gear Day to do some merch shopping. Proud of you bud.
Some cool photos I took for my Documentary Film class. We got to go outside during class on the one nice day in all of February. It was awesome.
We lost 2 or 3 weeks of progress on the robot because our electrical lead forgot to hit save when configuring the IDs of the motor controllers. This is going down as another "check the height of the robot before competition" moment.
On the 5th I worked Welcome Night for the Class of 2029, where I ended up running the soundboard for the evening. The more important part of this story is my buddy John and I went to Cane's and ended up finding a SLUH yearbook hanging on the wall. Wild.
After a serious day of Freshman Retreat-ing on the 7th, Jack, Brendin, and I got a little silly in the parking lot and all blasted Hot to Go at once with our windows down.
Also on Friday I had to go pick up a new suit from Dillard's. I got my last jacket freshman year, so it was about 3 inches too short. This fits just a tiny bit better.
And right after that, it was time for game night at Jack's house, where I ended up breaking out the freshly picked up suit after Jack claimed the rest of us were "underdressed". I also got some very nice votes from my friends.
At one point this happened while I was working at robotics on Saturday. Don't ask for the context, I don't have it.
And that night, it was finally time for the one and only SnoBall. We had assembled a little crew beforehand, so despite the overstimulation hell that dances are, I had fun. I also got to test drive the new suit.
I FINALLY GOT THE MARQUETTE PRETZEL. Context, a couple of buddies who had also applied to Marquette had gotten pretzels in the mail a week or two ago, while I had been left tragically pretzel-less because of living in Illinois. Not anymore.
UPDATE: My dog ate it while I wasn't home :(
UPDATE UPDATE: My mom got me a replacement for Valentine's :)
I finally got a RAM upgrade for my salvaged electronics dump iMac and got Final Cut Pro running on it. I run a film editing club. I should have done this months ago.
On Valentine's Day, Lucy (my date to SnoBall, the one in blue) and I officially started dating <3. To celebrate, we went on a double date to Zia's with Jack and his girlfriend Lauren.
I then made this thing for an application where you had to "make your mark on a piece of paper." This is my entire personality distilled into a Canva poster.
IT FINALLY DRIVES!!!
After months of work, the robot finally drives well!
Now we just have to finish everything but the drivetrain...
And continuing the trend of ending the month with my inopportune photos, here's my high school parking lot again. It has no right to be this pretty.
That's all for now folks, tune back in at the end of March for some more escapades, and in the meantime here's the February jams.
Peace,
Mason
